A TIME OF GROWTH

During our lives we come at crossroads and pathways where we have to make decisions. This is usually a time of discovery, a time of transition, a time of growth. For the first time in over a decade I will have only one employer; myself. I have decided to pursue my private practice, Maray Counselling, on a full time basis.

Those of you who know me are aware that I have had 2, sometimes 3 different employments at a time. For a few years I worked as a crisis worker for a community agency on weekends and weeknights while teaching at a local high school and having a small private practice. And, at that time, it was the right mix for me. I then slowed down and had only 2 employments. I believe that you can only do too much for so long. Over the last few years, as my private practice has expanded, I have yearned for time to do extra reading and research and grow more as a therapist. I have also craved to have time to exercise, spend more time meditating and being present. I have wished to do what I tell my clients to do: practice good self care.

I am enjoying the junction at which I find myself. In this period of transition, I welcome the gift of time; time to do research for a career I love and grow as a therapist to better serve my clients, time to spend with my spouse, family and friends, time to explore new hobbies as well as old ones, time to juggle my life in a more balanced way.
